West Michigan Whitecaps News Release

DAVENPORT, IA - Following heavy rains that moved through the Quad Cities area early Thursday morning, the uncovered infield at John O'Donnell Stadium was deemed unplayable by both mangers and the umpires. As a result, Thursday's Whitecaps game against the Swing has been postponed.

There will be a double header on Friday to open the Whitecaps' eight game road trip. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.

Burke Badenhop will be the Whitecaps starting pitcher in game one. He was originally scheduled to pitch Thursday. RHP Matt Rusch will make the start for West Michigan in game two. It will be Rusch's second start of the season.

Quad Cities will use Thursday's scheduled starter, LHP Adam Daniels in game one and RHP Adam Ottavino in game two. Ottavino would have been the starter in a single game on Friday.

Thursday marks the sixth time this season that a Whitecaps game has been postponed due to rain or field conditions. Three of those games, all in the first half, were not made up. This is the first West Michigan rainout of the second half and Friday will be the fourth doubleheader of the season for the ‘Caps.

Quad Cities has been involved in ten postponed games this season. Three Swing games were not made up.
