The Swing of the Quad Cities and West Michigan Whitecaps had their series opener rained out on Thursday. The two teams will meet again for a doubleheader on Friday, with game one scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
This marks the ninth rainout of a Swing game this year, and the fourth at John O'Donnell Stadium. The two teams will double dip with a pair of seven-inning contests on Friday, as Adam Daniels and Adam Ottavino will take the hill for Quad Cities while the Whitecaps are expected to throw Burke Badenhop in game one and Matt Rusch in game two.
Gates will open at 4:45 p.m. for Friday night's doubleheader.
UP NEXT: The Swing of the Quad Cities will welcome the West Michigan Whitecaps to town for a doubleheader on Friday night, as LHP Adam Daniels (7-8, 2.82) will get the start against RHP Burke Badenhop (11-2, 2.92) in game one while RHP Adam Ottavino (1-1, 4.15) will take on RHP Matt Rusch (8-3, 1.73) in the nightcap. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. and coverage on Progressive Talk AM-1270 will begin at 4:45 p.m.
UPCOMING PROMOTIONS: If you like free T-shirts, come to the ballpark early on Friday, August 11, to take advantage of an i-wireless/KWQC/River 104.9 giveaway. The best promotion of the bunch might be on Saturday, August 12, when the first 500 fans will receive baseballs autographed by past and present major leaguers as well as Swing players. The team will also be wearing St. Louis Cardinals' jerseys during the game, and the uniform tops will be available through live and silent auctions both during and after the contest. A KWQC/WKBF fireworks show will follow the game. DHCU Customer Appreciation Day comes your way on the homestand finale on Sunday, August 13, which will double as Dog Day, sponsored by Happy Dog Bakery, as well as a Mix 96 Family Fun Day.
