
Wheat Kings Select Two Forwards in WHL U.S. Prospects Draft

In the inaugural WHL U.S. Prospects Draft that took place on March 25th, 2020, the Brandon Wheat Kings selected a pair of teammates from hockey powerhouse prep school, Shattuck-St. Mary's in Faribault, Minnesota.
Zach Nehring 03/07/2005 - Selected 17th overall, Round #1
A 6 foot, 141 lb right-hand shot forward from Minot, North Dakota, Nering played 46 games this season for Shattuck St. Mary's Bantam T1. He collected 20 goals and 26 assists to go along with 50 penalty minutes.
Ty Henricks - 06/28/2005 - Selected 28th Overall, Round #2
Listed at 6'1 ¬Â³, 170 lbs with a left shot, Henricks finished the 2019-20 season with 68 total points (37G, 31A) and 84 penalty minutes in 55 games for Shattuck-St. Mary's. A 14 year old this season, Henricks suited up for Shattuck St. Mary's Bantam T1 last year as well during the 2018-19 season collecting 16 goals, 21 assists and 38 PIM in 54 games. Born in Mission Viejo, California, Henricks now hails from Woodbury, Minnesota.
Each WHL club was given the opportunity to make two draft choices in the first iteration of the WHL U.S. Prospects Draft.
Those eligible to be selected were 2005-born players who reside in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
Any players who weren't selected in the U.S. Prospects Draft today still remain eligible to be selected in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft, or listed by a WHL Club at any time thereafter.
