
Wheat Kings Select Reed Brown & Jimmy Egan in US Priority Draft

Brandon, Manitoba - The Brandon Wheat Kings have selected forwards Reed Brown and Jimmy Egan in the 2023 WHL US Priority Draft.
Reed Brown, a forward from the Okanagan HC Colorado, was selected by the Wheat Kings in the first round, 6th overall. Brown was stellar in the prestigious John Reid Bantam Tournament, scoring 5 goals and 2 assists in 5 games last January. The Wheat Kings are excited to add Brown's scoring touch to their roster.
Jimmy Egan, a 2008 born forward from Mahtomedi Minnesota, was selected by the Wheat Kings in the second round, 28th overall. Egan currently plays with his high school team the Mahtomedi High School Zephyrs mainly comprised of 2005 born players. Egan was able to put up solid numbers potting 4 goals and adding 17 assists in 31 games played with his older brothers high school team.
"We're thrilled to have Reed Brown and Jimmy Egan join the Brandon Wheat Kings organization," said Marty Murray, the Wheat Kings' Head Coach and General Manager. "Both players have shown tremendous skill and potential in their young careers, and we believe they have what it takes to excel in the WHL. We're excited to see what they can bring to our team."
The Wheat Kings scouting staff will now turn their attention to the WHL Prospects Draft presented by Victoria Inn Brandon which is scheduled for Thursday. The first round of the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft, including a 30-minute pre-show, will be livestreamed FREE via WHL Live on CHL TV. The live coverage of the first round will begin at 11:00am CST with rounds 2-12 available online.
