Brandon, MB - Goaltender Logan Thompson made 35 saves to backstop the Brandon Wheat Kings to a 6-1 victory over the Calgary Hitmen on Friday night at Westman Communications Group Place.

Four Wheat Kings had three points each as Tyler Coulter (2g, 1a), Nolan Patrick (1g, 2a), Reid Duke (1g, 2a) and Caiden Daley (3a) turned in strong performances. Ty Lewis and Stelio Matteos also scored for Brandon.

Jake Kryski, with his 18th goal of the season, was the only Hitmen player to solve Thompson scoring on a second period power play.

Calgary outshot the Wheat Kings 36-33 but trailed 1-0 after the first period and 5-1 after 40 minutes.

The Hitmen, 24-30-8-2, wrap up their three-game East Division road trip on Saturday, Mar. 4, in Regina against the Pats.

Calgary then returns to the Scotiabank Saddledome next Wednesday, Mar. 8, to host the Saskatoon Blades. That night the Hitmen will honour Andrew Ladd for the contributions he has made to the organization as a player and person when a `Forever A Hitmen' banner for Ladd will be hoisted and remain on permanent display at the Scotiabank Saddledome. The game is presented by Tim Hortons. Ladd, who will be in attendance for the ceremony, will become the second inductee of the `Forever A Hitmen' program, joining Ryan Getzlaf who was recognized on January 18, 2015. In honour of the number 19 Ladd wore in Calgary, fans will be able to join the celebration for a special ticket price of $9.19 (plus applicable fees).
