NEWS & NOTES:

Last Game: The Wheat Kings picked back to back wins last weekend. It started with a 4-1 victory over the Edmonton Oil Kings and then a massive come from behind victory over the Calgary Hitmen. It was a game where the Wheat Kings were trailing 2-0 in the second period with the Hitmen playing flawless defensive hockey until Evan Groening was able to score his 5th of the year to cue the comeback. The line of Nate Danielson/Brett Hyland & Dawson Pasternak took over the third period combining for 5 points scoring a pair of goals to win 3-2. The win would be the first back to back victory since January 6th for the Wheat Kings.

Feb 14th VS Swift Current Broncos : The Wheat Kings have a chance to do something they haven't been able to do all year. Win 3 straight at home. Another area of note is their team record. The Wheat Kings have had several opportunities to hit the .500 mark but as soon as they do they hit a losing skid. Tonight the Swift Current Broncos come to town. The Wheat Kings and Broncos are currently on the outside of a playoff spot with only two points separating each other in the standings. Between the #6 seed and the #10 seed, there's only 4 points separating the Regina Pats, Calgary Hitmen, Medicine Hat Tigers, Swift Current Broncos and Brandon Wheat Kings in the standings. The last time the Broncos and Wheat Kings faced off was back on December 3rd when the Wheat Kings picked up a stellar 4-2 win inside Westoba Place. Brett Hyland led the way with a pair of goals and Nate Danielson had his best game of the season picking up 4 assists. It was the first weekend Marty Murray took over as Head Coach with the Wheat Kings sweeping the weekend. The Wheat Kings haven't been able to win 3 games in a row since October 14th, 2022.

Milestone Alert: Wheat Kings Forward Zakhar Polshakov suited up for his 100th career WHL game last Saturday night.

Who's Hot: Brett Hyland currently has 17 goals scored in his last 20 games. Forward Nate Danielson has been stellar as of late scoring 45 points in his last 31 games. Nolan Ritchie has 37 points in his last 29 games.
