Whatley Caps off PaddleHeads' Comeback with Walk-Off Homer
June 9, 2022 - Pioneer League (PL)
Missoula PaddleHeads News Release
Missoula, MT- The Missoula PaddleHeads trailed for most of the night in game one of a three game set against the Billings Mustangs on Wednesday night at Allegiance Field at Ogren Park. The Mustangs would grab the lead in the first inning, and for a large portion of the night, would not look back. But Missoula would never let the game get out of hand, and would find themselves within striking distance coming down the stretch.
After tying the game in the bottom of the eighth, Missoula would strand a pair of Mustangs runners on base to send the game to the bottom of the ninth tied at six. The PaddleHeads offense did many things during its record-breaking 2021 season. However, one thing that the team never did was hit a walk-off home run. Shortstop Kevin Whatley would make sure the same thing could never be said about this year's club as the Washington native would launch the second pitch of the inning well clear of the wall in right to send the PaddleHeads fans home happy in a 7-6 win.
