Westchester Knicks One Win Away From Securing #1 Seed In Eastern Conference

OSHKOSH, WI - The Westchester Knicks (32-17), the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, brought the magic number to one with a 119-112 win in Wisconsin against the Herd (21-28), the Milwaukee Bucks' affiliate. A Raptors 905 loss tomorrow or a Westchester win at home this Friday will lock in the Knicks as the number one seed in the Eastern Conference.

Guard Billy Garrett paced Westchester with a new career-high 29 points along with five rebounds and three each of assists and steals. Knicks affiliate Xavier Rathan-Mayes notched another double-double with 23 points and 10 assists, also providing seven rebounds and three steals. Knicks Two-Way player Luke Kornet sank 20 points with four rebounds, adding four assists and three blocks to his stat line. Devon Baulkman came off the bench to supply an additional 18 points and four rebounds.

Wisonsin's two Bucks Two-Way players provided 73 of the Herd's 112 points. Xavier Munford had a career night, surpassing all scorers in the game with a new season-high 46 points to go with eight rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. Ricky Ledo had a nice night as well, falling just short of a double-double with 27 points, nine rebounds, and five assists. Forward Kyle Casey chipped in 11 points with four rebounds and three assists.

Westchester's Kornet hit a three-pointer on the Knicks' first possession to tip off the game before the visitors went on a 13-4 run. Running up as much as a 16-point lead, the Knicks ended with a 15-point advantage over Wisconsin after one. That lead extended to 20 as Westchester began the second with five quick points but the Herd managed to pull back within 11 midway through the quarter, which is where the home team would land behind the visitors at the half.

Wisconsin went down to a single-digit deficit as Munford tipped off the second half with a three, but it was short-lived over the next eight minutes. A three from the Herd's Ledo with four minutes on the clock brought it back to single-digits, and Wisconsin climbed back to come within four using a 12-5 run to close the third quarter. It looked as though Westchester would run away with the game, the Knicks scaling back up to a 16-point advantage with 7:17 left to go. But when the clock read 1:15, the Herd had pulled back within four. Westchester's Garrett hit 3-of-4 free throws to make it 113-106; the Herd's Munford answering with a three. Garrett sank another two shots from the charity stripe; Munford answered with another three. With 15.9 seconds to go, Wisconsin had made it a one-possession game. But with a combination of made free throws from the Knicks and a missed three-point attempt from the Herd's Ledo, Westchester held on to take it 119- 112.

The Westchester Knicks return home for its regular season finale on Friday, March 23, hosting the Erie BayHawks, the Atlanta Hawks' affiliate, at 7:00 p.m. ET. The game will be streamed live exclusively on Twitch.
