WASHINGTON DC - The Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, fell to the Capital City Go-Go, 98-88, Saturday night at Entertainment and Sports Arena.
Unlike last night's contest, Capital City (2-0) was in the driver's seat early crediting the first lead of the game. In less than four minutes, the Knicks (0-2) found itself in front with a slim three-point advantage. Both teams led two additional times with Westchester edging the Go-Go 24-22 heading into the second. The Knicks would add two more points to its margin by the half, 47-43.
The Knicks went ahead by as many as 13 points in the third frame in large part to its 7-0 run spanning about three minutes, 68-55, with 1:42 to go in the quarter. From that point, Capital City outscored the Knicks 8-2 but trailed seven at the end of the third, 70-63.
Jordan Goodwin struck first in the fourth bringing the hosts within four but Brandon Williams converted an and-one opportunity to push the Knicks back up seven with 10:05 to go. Capital City tacked on nine more points to the Knicks' two over the next five minutes which evened the playing field, 75-up. Two more ties followed before a hook shot from Jaime Echenique placed Capital City in front for good.
Williams (tryout) followed up his debut and team-high scoring performance with 28 points tonight. He tallied six dimes, five rebounds and two blocks in 41 minutes. Affiliate player, Aamir Simms, nabbed a 17-point and 12-rebound double-double to go with five assists.
