Hagerstown Suns News Release

Hagerstown, MD: The West Virginia Power beat the Hagerstown Suns 8-6, improving their record to 22-8 at Municipal Stadium on Wednesday.

The first pitch for Wednesday's game was slated for 10:35 A.M. and the West Virginia bats were wide awake, scoring in each of the first four innings, including a four-run burst in the top of the second. The Suns defense, however, was not as sharp, committing three errors, including two in the second inning, that led to four unearned runs.

Suns starter Corey Van Allen (0-2, 3.42)pitched three innings and gave up six runs, only two of them earned, and was saddled with the loss. The Suns bullpen was solid in relief, with Aaron Jackson coming on for Van Allen, pitching two and two thirds and surrendering two runs. Greg Bunn and newcomer Nick Arneson combined to pitch three and one third innings of scoreless relief after Jackson.

The Suns and Power will play again on Thursday, May 10th. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 P.M. and all domestic draft beers will be only $1.25 celebrating "Thirsty Thursday" at Municipal Stadium. For tickets call the Suns at (301) 791-6266 or visit them on the web at www.hagerstownsuns.com.
