LAKEWOOD, NJ-Chris Coghlan and Scott Cousins each had 4 hits as a 20-hit evening from Greensboro drove them to a 10-4 win on Wednesday over Lakewood at FirstEnergy Park. Coghlan led the team with 3 RBIs including a 2-run single in the 5th.
Greensboro scored single runs in the 2nd and 3rd but 3 each in the 4th and 5th to blow it open. John Raynor added a 2-run double in the 4th off of BlueClaws starter Jarrod Freeman (1-1), who allowed 8 runs on 13 hits in 4.2 IP and taking the loss.
The 20 this for Greensboro ties Delmarva on 7/15/2002 with the most ever hits allowed in a game by the BlueClaws. Every Grasshopper starter had a hit and 7 of the 9 had at least 2 hits in the game.
Adrian Cardenas of Lakewood hit his 3rd home run of the season and added an RBI single to drive in 3 of Lakewood's 4 runs but it was not enough. Kevin Howard, Gus Milner, and Julian Williams added multi- hit games for the BlueClaws.
Kyle Winters (1-1) got the win after allowing 3 runs in 5 innings for Greensboro.
Thursday at FirstEnergy Park the teams will play a double-header continuing their 5-game series. The 2 nine-inning games will have separate admissions and will begin at 11:05 and 6:35. You can hear the action on the Shore Sports Network (1160 WOBM-AM and 1310 WADB).
