Lexington Legends News Release

Cole White's double with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning scored Justin Howard from first base to break a 3-3 tie, and the West Virginia Power went on to defeat the Lexington Legends 4-3 Tuesday night in Charleston.

Justin Howard's two-run homer in the first inning gave the Power an early lead. The Legends scored in the second on a double by Ben Heath and a single by Emilio King, but West Virginia answered with a run in the fourth when White walked and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Kevin Mort.

Lexington cut the lead to one in the fifth inning. Ben Orloff led off with a bunt single, and after Bryce Lane lined out to right field, Delino DeShields Jr. walked. Enrique Hernandez grounded to third baseman Eric Avila, who threw to second for a force play, but Mort's relay got past the first baseman Howard, who was charged with an error. The misplay allowed Orloff to score, and Lexington trailed 3-2.

The Legends pulled even in the sixth on Tyler Burnett's solo homer.

In the eighth, Legends reliever David Martinez retired the first two hitters before Howard drew a walk. White followed with a line drive to right center field to bring Howard home with the go-ahead run.

White had hit a walk-off home run in West Virginia's 2-1, 10-inning victory over the Legends Monday night.
