BlueClaws Lose 4-3 in 14 Innings

HAGERSTOWN, MD - The Lakewood BlueClaws blew a 3-1 lead in the 9th inning as they fell 4-3 in 14 innings to the Hagerstown on Tuesday night. Hagerstown slammed 3 homers in the game and was actually outhit 8-7 by the BlueClaws. The loss is the 11th consecutive loss for Lakewood on the road as they haven't won a road game since June 1st.

It was another start, and another fine pitching performance for Lakewood Starter Jesse Biddle as he allowed just 1 run on 4 hits while fanning 8. He was relieved by Colby Shreve with 2 outs in the 6th with the BlueClaws on top 3-1, but ended up getting a no decision. Lakewood Closer Juan Sosa blew his 3rd save of the year as he gave up a 2-run HR to Hagerstown OF Michael Taylor in the 9th inning to tie the game at 3-3 and force extra innings.

Kevin Keyes hit 2 HR's for the Suns including a solo shot off Biddle in the 2nd and the game winning walk-off solo HR off Tyler Knigge in the 14th. He finished the day 3-6, and along with Taylor was all the offense Hagerstown needed. Carlos Perdomo, Zach Collier, and Travis Mattair all had RBI hits for Lakewood. Mattair was the only BlueClaws with more than 1 hit as he finished the game 2-5.

Lakewood will try to snap their 11-game road losing streak on Wednesday. They will send out RHP Lendy Castillo (0-1, 3.60 ERA) will make a spot start for the BlueClaws who will have their work cut out for them against Hagerstown ace LHP Matthew Grace (8-3, 2.83 ERA). First Pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm on Wednesday.
