MIDLAND, Texas - Midland used big innings and received a strong start by Kyle Friedrich on a hot, windy Friday night at Security Bank Ballpark to defeat the Naturals, 11-4.
Northwest Arkansas (26-28) fought till the end sending eight men to bat in the ninth and collecting a pair of runs with two outs; but fell short despite the rally.
Elier Hernandez delivered a three-hit performance and has extended his hitting streak to 11-games and is batting .500 (23-for-46) over his 11-game stretch. Alex Liddi extrapolated his streak to a dozen games with a two-run double in the sixth inning to crack the scoring column for the Naturals.
Starter, Zach Lovvorn (3-3, 5.33) worked 4.2 innings, allowed seven runs on 11 hits with three walks and a pair of strikeouts in his 10th start of the season.
The series continues tomorrow, Saturday, June 2 with a 7:00 p.m. first pitch which features right-hander, Scott Blewett (2-4, 5.81) against right-hander, Norge Ruiz (3-5, 5.21) countering for the RcokHounds.
