June 1, 2018 - Texas League (TL1)
San Antonio Missions News Release
SPRINGFIELD - The Missions matched their longest road winning streak of the year at four games by taking the series opener against the Cardinals, 5-3, Friday night in front of a sellout crowd at Hammons Field.
San Antonio battled back from an early 2-0 deficit. Ty France and Austin Allen slugged two-out back-to-back homers in the fifth inning, and two batters later Michael Gettys hooked a two-run blast around the left field foul pole.
It was the second time in as many nights that the Missions hit three homers in one inning after not doing so in nearly three years.
Starter Jerry Keel survived a shaky first inning to go five innings and pick up his fourth win of the season.
Brad Wieck worked a scoreless ninth for his seventh save. Wieck has not allowed a run since the start of May.
The Missions gained a game in the standings on Corpus Christi, which lost to Tulsa. San Antonio now leads the South Division by two games with 16 to play in the first half.
