Wenatchee Wild News Release

WENATCHEE, Wash. - The Wenatchee Wild and Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy, proud members of the Western Hockey League (WHL) and Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL), are pleased to announce the hiring of Jarrod Boman as the new head coach of the Academy's 14-and-under team for the 2024-25 season. Boman returns to the Wild Hockey Academy program after spending the past two seasons as an assistant coach for the 16-and-under and 18-and-under teams.

"We are very excited to announce the return of Jarrod Boman to the Academy as our 14U Tier I national-bound program's head coach for the 2024-2025 season," said Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy director Troy Mick. "He is no stranger to hockey in the local area - Jarrod works with many of the local and Academy players doing power-skating lessons during the offseason. He will be a good mentor on and off the ice for our 14U program this year."

A native of Portland, Oregon, Boman played junior hockey in the former Western States Hockey League before moving into officiating, including a 15-year stint in the WHL. With 362 career appearances, no American official has worked more WHL games than Boman. He served with the 16U and 18U teams during their transition into CSSHL membership.

"I am very excited for this opportunity," said Boman. "I really want to thank Troy and (Wild general manager) Bliss (Littler) for thinking of me in the new direction of the program. As for me, skill development is and will always be a top priority - coming from the CSSHL level, my goal will be to challenge the development of our players' knowledge of the game, so they are prepared for the next level in more ways than one."

The Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy will field four USA Hockey Tier I teams in the 2024-25 season, with all four programs eligible for USA Hockey's year-end district and national tournaments. The Academy's 16U and 18U teams are billeted programs and full members of the CSSHL, widely considered Canada's top education-based hockey league. The program's 14U and 15-only teams are weekend programs, with the 14U team accepting invitations to participate as a guest program in two of the league's Under-15 Varsity showcases and an Under-15 Prep showcase this past season.

The Wild Hockey Academy is continuing to work toward filling out its staff for the 2024-25 season, following the hiring of Norm Lochten as its 15O coach this past week. Main tryouts for this year's Academy teams were held this past weekend, with another tryout set to fill the 14U roster in May. Details on that camp will be available soon.

The Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy is excited to welcome Jarrod Boman back to the Wild family, and look forward to his contributions as the new head coach of its Tier I 14U program.
