Road Ready

After a nearly perfect start to Round 2 on home ice, the Hawks face a new test as they battle the Silvertips in what should be a rowdy building in Everett. The only two defeats of the Hawks' 6-2-0-0 regular-season record against Everett came at Angel of the Winds Arena, including one of just two times Portland was shut out during the 68-game slate, and Portland's veterans will remember how difficult it was to win on the road in last year's playoff series.

Despite the test ahead, there's plenty of confidence in a Winterhawks group that has found a successful style of play early on in the postseason.

"No reason to change the game plan, right? ... We're probably gonna stick to the same plan, we'll come out hot, test their top guys and see if we can get that first goal," said forward Kyle Chyzowski. "But I really don't think we'll change much just because it's their building. Obviously, we want to quiet down the crowd, it's a big crowd there for sure, but not much to change for us."

Seventh Heaven

Portland's phenomenal 6-0 start to the playoffs is just that - a start. With plenty of hockey between now and any truly significant achievements this postseason, it's important to keep things in perspective and take it one game at a time. But that doesn't mean we can't also take a peek at the record books and note that the Hawks are approaching a historic mark, needing just one more win to match the longest winning streak (7) in the Club's playoff history.

The Winterhawks have posted three separate seven-game winning streaks in their playoff history, most recently during their WHL Championship-winning 2013 campaign. But regardless of whether or not they make it four streaks tonight, they've shown a clear ability to build momentum and string victories together early on, forming winning habits that could come in very handy as the playoffs roll on.
