Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release

JUPITER, Fla. - Tyler Wells retired the first 15 batters he faced, and Alex Kirilloff extended his hitting streak to nine games, as the Fort Myers Miracle edged the Jupiter Hammerheads, 2-1, on Wednesday night at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.

Wells (8-4) exited after eight innings. The right-hander struck out a season high 10. Jovani Moran earned his first save with a perfect ninth.

The Miracle broke a scoreless game in the fourth. With one out and a runner at second, Taylor Grzelakowski doubled to right to give the Miracle a 1-0 advantage. Kirilloff followed with a run scoring single that pushed the Miracle lead to 2-0. The 20-year old finished 2-4 and has now registered five straight multi-hit games.

Jupiter scored their lone run of the game in the seventh on a James Nelson single. After Lazaro Alonso walked, Wells got Jhonny Santos to line into a double play to end the threat.

Jupiter starter Cody Poteet (1-3) suffered the loss after allowing two runs in seven innings. He struck out seven.

The Miracle open a four-game series on Thursday night against the Daytona Tortugas, the Class-A Advanced affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
