ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter the 19th week of the 2003-2004 season with a 23-20-4-3 record (14-9-2-1 at home, 9-11-2-2 on the road, 4-0-4-3 in overtime) and in fourth place in the BC DIVISION...KOOTENAY will play four of their next five games on the road, before returning to the CRANBROOK REC PLEX for four straight home games (February 7 â 14).
BIG BROTHERS / BIG SISTERS AIRPLANE NIGHT: When KOOTENAY hosts MEDICINE HAT on January 28, it will be the second annual BIG BROTHERS / BIG SISTERS AIRPLANE TOSS...In the second intermission, fans will be invited to fly their planes onto the ice surface for their chance to win some great prizes.
DID YOU KNOW: DALE MAHOVSKY, who recorded his first career hat trick January 25 in SPOKANE, needs seven points to reach 100 in his WHL career...NIGEL DAWES needs two goals to reach 100 in his WHL career...DAWES is in second place in all-time career goals scored with the ICE (record is 124 held by JARRET STOLL) and is fourth in career points with the KOOTENAY franchise with 177 (STOLL has 286, MIKE GREEN has 215, JASON JAFFRAY has 186)...Despite missing 15 games due to his participation in the WORLD JUNIOR tournament and an early season injury, DAWES is third in the WHL in goals with 36...ADAM TAYLOR, who has played in 230 career WHL games (including a franchise record 195 straight regular season games), needs to play in three more games to move into fifth place for all-time career games played with the KOOTENAY franchise...TAYLOR needs nine goals to reach 50 in his WHL career...JOSH MORROW needs four points to reach 100 in his WHL career...JEFF GLASS has moved into third place in all-time career wins with the ICE franchise (32) and is fourth in both games played (72) and minutes played (3955).
SCORING STREAKS: JOSH MORROW (0-4-4 in span) and JAMES CHEREWYK (2-1-3 in span) have both recorded at least one point in each of their last three games.
ONE YEAR AGO: After 50 games of the 2002-2003 season the ICE were 25-16-6-3, after 51 games 25-17-6-3 and after 52 games 25-17-6-4.
