This Week:

3/24 at Trenton, 7:00 p.m. - Home (0-3-0), Away (2-4-0)

Johnstown and Trenton wrap up their season series this week with the Chiefs' final visit to Sun National Bank Center. The game wraps up a four-game road trip for the Chiefs which has been rocky at best. The Chiefs are 0-3-0 on the trip, but are heading to a building in which they won their most recent game. You have to turn the calendar back to February 3 to find the last time the Chiefs and Devils met in Trenton. Johnstown would certainly like to replicate its effort from that night as John Murray posted 29 saves in leading the way to a 3-0 win. The teams last met in a pair of home games for Johnstown on February 19 and 20 with Trenton winning each night.

3/27 vs. Toledo, 7:05 p.m. - Home (0-3-0), Away (0-2-1)

The Walleye have proven a diffuclt puzzle for the Chiefs to solve this season with zero wins in six tries. Only two of those games have seen the Chiefs take a lead. They held a 2-1 advantage in the first period of the January 30 contest in Johnstown, and 1-0 and 2-1 in Toledo on January 17. The Walleye will certainly become a familiar sight inside of the War Memorial as they will be the opponent in two of the Chiefs' final four home games of the season. Friday's game will be an interesting showdown between two of the top rookies in the league. Connor Shields leads the Chiefs, and is sixth among rookies, with 58 points (26G, 32A) while Maxime Tanguay tops Toledo and is third among rookies with 65 points (23G, 42A).

3/29 vs. Cincinnati, 2:05 p.m. - Home (1-4-0), Away (2-2-0)

Like a couple of heavyweight fighters swapping haymakers the Chiefs and Cyclones have taken turns winning big the last few times they've met. On February 27 in Johnstown, the Chiefs shrugged off a 1-0 first period deficit to storm back and win by a 6-2 count. Six different Chiefs scored goals and David Schulz posted a season-high plus-five rating for the game. In the most recent meeting, however, it was Cincinnati's turn to counter punch with a 7-1 win on March 18. The Cyclones broke open a 1-1 tie after one with three unanswered goals in the second period and cruised to the win. The Chiefs could be helped by the schedule as they will be off on Saturday while Cincinnati hosts Kalamazoo at 7:30 before traveling to Johnstown for the matinee. Sunday will be the Cyclones' final trip to Johnstown this season.

Last Week: (0-3-0)

3/18 at Cincinnati: L 1-7

Cincinnati was able to capture a Kelly Cup Playoff berth with a win over the Chiefs for the third year in a row. A tightly played first period left the game tied a one each. Jimmy Kilpatrick struck quickly for the home front with a goal 2:20 in, but Connor Shields responded with his second shorthanded goal of the season at 9:45. The goal extended Shields' point streak to four games (1G, 6A). Cincinnati broke the tie on a power play goal by Dustin Sproat 1:40 into the first period and never looked back. Doug Krantz and Kilpatrick added goals of their own in the second and were followed by a trio of goals in the third period by Scott Reynolds, Ryan Del Monte, and Sproat. John Murray had a busy night in net as he faced 41 shots while Cincinnati limited Johnstown to just 19.

3/20 at Reading: L 0-4

With the season series tied at five wins each the Keystone Cup was up for grabs when the Chiefs and Royals met for the final time last Saturday. Reading put forth one of its best defensive efforts of the season and helped rookie Matt Dalton earn his first pro shutout. Former Chief Andrew Sarauer scored two goals on the night including the eventual game winner 12:05 into the first period. He carried the puck down the right wing and fired a low wrist shot out of John Murray's reach for Reading's 1-0 lead. Ben Gordon and Ryan Cruthers added power play goals in the first and second period, respectively, to pad the lead. For the second straight night Murray faced a barrage of shots and was able to turn aside 36 of the 40 sent his way.

3/21 at Elmira: L 0-4

The Chiefs came out with jump against the Jackals and registered two shots within the first minute of play. Shortly after, though, the Chiefs took a pair of penalties 1:02 apart and while Elmira didn't score on the advantage momentum remained in its corner throughout the game. Brendan Connolly finally broke through against Murray by banging home a rebound 11:14 into the first period. The Chiefs kept it within striking distance and managed 10 shots in the period, but Andy Chiodo was perfect in net. Jackals goals in the second by Tyler Donati and Mat Robinson put the home team comfortably ahead leading into the third period. In the third the Chiefs were able to beat Chiodo twice, but each shot hit the post and their side of the scoreboard remained undented. Matt Lowry potted one more insurance goal with 13:32 gone by in the third period.
