Sarnia Sting News Release


With important wins over Windsor and Saginaw, the Sarnia Sting picked up 4 of a possible 6 points last weekend. On Thursday night in Windsor, the Sting managed to hold on for a 5-3 win over the divisional rivals before returning to the RBC Centre for a 2-game home stint. The Sting fell to the OHL-leading Erie Otters on Friday night in front of 2800+ fans before coming from behind to defeat the Spirit on Sunday afternoon.

The Sting finish off the month of November with 4 games in 4.5 days with two games at home and two games south of the border. In a rare Wednesday night matchup, the Sting take on the Saginaw Spirit in the second-leg of a home-and-home between the two clubs. Sarnia currently leads the season series 2-1 following Sunday's win on home ice.

On Friday night at the RBC Centre, the Sting take on the Owen Sound Attack for the first time this season. Prior to the start of the 2nd period, the Sting will honour a local Veteran during the 3rd instalment of Veteran's Way.

The Sting return south of the border on Saturday night as they travel to Plymouth to take on highly touted prospect, Sonny Milano and the Plymouth Whalers. The Whalers got off to a good start this season before dropping 7 of their last 10 contests.

On Sunday afternoon, the Sting return to the RBC Centre to take on the Kingston Frontenacs for the first of 2 games between the two clubs this season. Kingston is currently sporting a .500 record, despite losing 3-straight and only winning 3 of their last 10 games. Following the game on Sunday, the Sting will be hosting an Autograph Session in the Hive Bar & Grill, where fans can purchase their 2014-15 Player Card sets and have the players sign them. Puck drop is set for 4:05 PM on Sunday and kids' tickets are just $6.

Sunday is also the official Movember game for the Sarnia Sting. The Club will announce the grand total raised for Men's health over the course of the month, and host a Moustache Removal kiosk on the concourse. Enviro Trends will be on site to help fans rid of their Movember moustaches.

Sting Notes

Nikita Korostelev : With 4 points last weekend, Korostelev is now tied for 17th in OHL scoring with 27 points (13G, 14A) in 22 games this season.

Anthony DeAngelo : DeAngelo is now only 2 points back of leading all OHL defenseman in points. He now has 23 points (6G, 17 A) in 18 GP.

Taylor Dupuis : Dupuis improved to 5-4 on the season with 2 wins this past weekend. Dupuis currently sports a .926 save % and picked up a pair of assists last weekend. The goaltender currently holds a 2-game point streak.

Players to watch - Saginaw Spirit

Nick Moutrey : Moutrey scored twice for the Spirit on Sunday afternoon in Sarnia and leads the team in points with 26 (11G 15 A). The '96-born winger was named captain last week.

Dylan Sadowy : Sadowy is 2nd in team scoring with 25 points in 23 games played for the Spirit this season. Sadowy has high offensive upside, recording 27 goals in his 2013-14 campaign.

Friday, November 28, 2014 - Owen Sound (12-6-1-4) @ Sarnia Sting (9-11-1-1)

Players to watch - Owen Sound Attack

Kyle Platzer : The centreman leads all Attack players with 29 points (9G, 20A) thus far this season. Platzer was a 4th round pick of the Edmonton Oilers in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

Zach Nastasiuk : The Owen Sound captain, Nastasiuk leads the team in goals with 12 on the year. The bid-bodied centreman was taken by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2nd round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

Saturday, November 29, 2014 - Sarnia Sting (9-11-1-1) @ Plymouth Whalers (9-12-1-1)

Players to watch - Plymouth Whalers

Matt Mistele : Playing his 4th season in Plymouth, Mistele leads the Whalers in goals (15) and points (27). After Mistele, the Whalers' next highest goal scorer is Matthew Campagna with 8.

Sonny Milano : In just 12 OHL games, the rookie has 18 points for the Whalers. Milano was taken 16th overall in last year's NHL Entry Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Sunday, November 30, 2014 - Kingston Frontenacs (9-9-1-2) @ Sarnia Sting (9-11-1-1)

Players to watch - Kingston Frontenacs

Spencer Watson : Watson leads all Frontenacs' players with 28 points (13G 15A) on the season. The LA Kings' prospect has proven himself as a goal scorer in this league, recording 43 points in his rookie campaign and 68 points last year.

Ryan Kujawinski : Kujawinski player 29 games for the Sting in his rookie season, earning only 1G and 5A before being dealt away to the Fronts. The 6.02 centreman has 11G and 16PTS for Kingston this year.
