Sarnia Sting News Release

SARNIA, ON - On Tuesday, December 2nd the Sarnia Sting Hockey Club will be dedicating their time to the Habitat for Humanity and assisting in the 2014-15 Chris Dawkins Memorial You Build.

Starting at 9:00 AM, players, coaches, and staff members will spend the day hanging drywall and working towards building a home for Karen Groves' family at 237 East Street South.

Sarnia Sting President, Bill Abercrombie maintains that this is a project the organization is "thrilled to be a part of."

"When we were approached with this opportunity, there was no question that we were going to get involved. Just like us, the Habitat for Humanity is celebrating 20 years in the Sarnia Community this year, and have taken great strides in eliminating poverty housing over that time. As members of the community, we feel that this is a great chance for us to give back in a big way and assist in reducing poverty in Sarnia."

The Sarnia Sting would like to ask for fan support in this endeavor. Because the players will be doing manual labor on 'Giving Tuesday', they are required to wear CSA approved footwear. This weekend, we ask that fans show their support by donating old CSA approved footwear that they no-longer require. There will be bins left at both Gate 2 and Gate 5 during both games this upcoming weekend. Following the Build, the footwear will be donated to the Habitat for Humanity and used for future projects as needed.
