The U18's have been firing on all cylinders so far this year, winning the first four USHL games they've played this season. The only area this squad is struggling is on the power play where they are just 1-for-17 heading into Friday's game against Des Moines. Thomas Bordeleau leads the U18's in scoring with seven goals, trailed by Luke Tuch six and Brett Berard at five. Drew Commesso and Noah Grannan have identical 2-0-0-0 records in net for the U18's, but Commesso has a slight edge in numbers with a 0.50 goals-against average and a .979 save percentage, both bolstered by shutting out Sioux City at the Fall Classic.
After a slow start, Des Moines comes into the Covelli Centre red hot, winning four of their last five games. The Bucs 7-5-0-1 record has them in 3rd place in the USHL's Western Conference after an 0-2-0-0 start at the Fall Classic. Offensively Des Moines is led by one of the league's leading scorers in Alex Laferriere who enters the night fourth in the league in scoring with 18. Joey Strada is right behind Laferriere with 14 points and Mason Nevers checks in with 12 points. The Bucs have been splitting time between the pipes with former-NTDPer Cameron Rowe and former-Phantom Christian Stoever. Rowe checks in with the better record at 5-3-0-0 compared to Stoever's 2-2-0-0 mark, but Stoever sports the better goals-against average (3.24 vs 3.80) and save percentage (.907 vs .890).
