Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm has announced the addition of forward Sam Rhodes to the active roster. Rhodes joins Tri-City following nine games played this season with the Barrie Colts (OHL).

Sam Rhodes, 19, of Powhatan, Virginia, has spent the past two seasons playing for the Barrie Colts in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). Rhodes was selected 115th overall in the 6th Round of the 2016 OHL Priority Selection Draft. He netted his first career goal in Barrie's 6-1 win over the Niagara Ice Dogs on November 11th, 2017. His first multi goal game with the team came on November 14th, 2018 in Barrie's 6-3 road win over the Hamilton Bulldogs. In the win, Rhodes led the Colts with two goals and had a season high six shots on net. His lone point in the 2019-2020 regular season with Barrie came on October 4th in the team's 6-4 road win over the Sarnia Sting.

Prior to his time in major junior hockey with the Barrie Colts, Rhodes spent the 2016-2017 season with the Skipjacks Hockey Club in York, Pennsylvania. He netted five goals and notched ten assists in nineteen games played. Rhodes also previously skated for the Richmond Generals 16U team in Richmond, Virginia.

"I'm excited to get started with the Storm, my best friend from back home Zac Jones played here last year and spoke very highly of the Tri-City Storm organization and of the coaching staff. Playing for Barrie the past few seasons was a great experience, and I got to play with a lot great players there, but I'm ready to get started here in Kearney. I consider myself to be a hardworking, skilled, two way forward. I take pride in my defensive play, but I also love having the puck on my sticking and making the best plays that I can." Forward Sam Rhodes

"Sam gives us another junior experienced forward who has elite speed, is highly competitive, and skilled enough to make guys around him better. He has high character, and we expect him to be a great addition to our locker room." Head Coach Anthony Noreen.
