Brampton Steelheads News Release

Riding a four game win streak, the Mississauga Steelheads (14-6-2-0) are looking to stay hot heading into this weekend's 3-in-3. Defeating the Kingston Frontenacs 5-1 and Sudbury Wolves 5-3 this past weekend, the Steelheads have scored 19 goals during their win streak with only nine goals against.

The Steelheads' top two lines have been a nightmare for opposing teams, having scored 14 of the Steelheads' 19 goals during their current four game win streak. With a few key players missing, the Steelheads' depth has filled the need in the team's top six, with Richard Whittaker and Nicholas Canade making seamless transitions moving up the line up. After scoring only eight points in 18 games, Whittaker has made the most of his increased ice time, doubling his point total to 16 with eight points in his last four outings. The Steelheads are in London on Thursday to take on the Knights, back at home Friday when they face the North Bay Battalion, then on the road again for their third game in three days against the Sudbury Wolves.

Friday November 22 @ London Knights (Budweiser Gardens)

Puck Drop @ 7:00 pm

The London Knights are one of the hottest teams in the OHL right now, riding an 11-0-1-0 streak. Sitting in second place in the league, the 15-4-2-0 Knights are flaunting a stellar +30 goal differential, the second best in the OHL. With only one Knights' player in the top 50 in league scoring, the Knights ability to win games comes from their lock-down defense and solid goaltending duo in Jordan Kooy and Joseph Raaymakers, both of whom are in the top five for SAV% and GAA in the OHL. In two meetings last year, the Steelheads went 0-2 against the Knights. The Steelheads will be on the national stage for the first time this season as tonight's game will be televised live on Sportsnet.

Friday November 23 vs North Bay Battalion (Paramount Fine Foods Centre)

Puck Drop @ 7:00 pm

At the bottom of the Central Division, the North Bay Battalion are 10-11-0-1 and have dropped their last three contests. Keeping the puck out of the net has been an issue for the Battalion this year allowing 90 goals this season, the fourth worst in the league. Although it's been a difficult start for the Battalion, they find solace in forward Justin Brazeau, who sits second in the OHL in scoring with 42 points in 22 games. Heading into their second of six match-ups this season, the Steelheads lead the series 1-0 after edging the Battalion in a 4-3 victory on October 18th.

Mississauga Steelheads @ Sudbury Wolves (Sudbury Community Arena)

Puck Drop @ 4:05 pm

Heading into their second of six match-ups this season against their division rivals the Sudbury Wolves (13-7-1-1), the Steelheads look to extend their series lead to 2-0. Tied for second place in the Central Division, the Wolves are trailing the Steelheads by two points. The Steelheads were dominant against the Wolves in their first game of the season, picking up a 5-3 win on home ice. Both teams are coming into Sunday's game after a long week, with the Wolves playing three games in four nights. The Steelheads face off against the Wolves four more times over the next two months in what looks to be a heated battle for top spot in the Central Division.

Players to Watch

Mississauga Steelheads:

Richard Whittaker: In his third season in the OHL, Whittaker has already topped his previous season high scoring total of 13 points in 54 games last season with the London Knights. In 22 games so far this season, Whittaker has 16 points, including eight in his last four games. Whittaker has been on a roll since moving on the second line with Owen Tippett and is looking to continue to stay hot.

London Knights

Cole Tymkin: With 21 points in 21 games, Cole Tymkin is the London Knights' top scorer this season. Playing in his third season with the London Knights, Tymkin is well on his way to surpassing his best point total of 26 points. At a point per game pace, Tymkin is one of the few offensive threats on a defensive minded Knights roster.

North Bay Battalion:

Justin Brazeau: With the second most points in the OHL, the 6'6? winger is almost scoring at a two point-per-game pace. Finishing last season with 75 points in 60 games, Brazeau is on pace for over 120 points this season. Of the Battalion's 72 goals as a team this season, Brazeau has gotten a point on over 50% of those goals with 42 points this season.

Sudbury Wolves:

David Levin: The Israel native is in his fourth season in the OHL. Drafted first overall in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection, Levin has been plagued by injuries throughout his OHL career. Finally healthy, Levin is Sudbury's leading scorer with 21 points in 22 games and is on track for his best season to date in the OHL.
