Barrie Feasts on the Otters 7-5 on American Thanksgiving

A debut to remember for Jacob Tortora who lit the lamp for the Barrie Colts just 1:39 into the third period for the eventual game winner in a 7-5 win over the Erie Otters Thursday night.
It was a Thanksgiving matchup as the Barrie Colts visited the Erie Otters on American Thanksgiving.
The scoring happened often in the early part of the game.
After spotting the Otters a 2-0 lead early in the game, Barrie would get one back. It was rookie forward Tyson Foerster getting the bounce off his stick in front that got past the Erie net minder for his 3rd of the season. Aidan Brown and Mathew Hill tallied the assists.
Just over one minute later the Otters would regain their two goal lead, which ended the night for Jet Greaves, but that is when the Colts would really lay the foot down.
Ben Hawerchuk, who was returning to his first game after serving a five game suspension, would add Barrie's second goal of the game on a two man advantage to bring the game within one before the first period would end. He blasted a slapshot for his 10th of the season. Assists went to Ryan Suzuki and Joey Keane.
In the second, it was more from the King City, ON native. He collected his 11th of the season and second of the game, also on the power play with assists coming from Matej Pekar and Lucas Chiodo to tie the game at three.
Less than three minutes later a milestone was reached by Jason Willms. He took a shot on goal and a rebound came out that was poked into the net by Tyler Tucker for his 6th of the season, but more importantly, with the assist Willms recorded his 100th career OHL point, giving Barrie their first lead of the game.
Late in the 2nd period, Barrie would score their 4th unanswered goal as Aidan Brown found himself alone on a breakaway and he slid the puck in between the pads of Daniel Murphy for the 5-3 lead. Chris Cameron and Jaden Peca also picked up points on the play.
The home Otters would get one back before the period ended making it a one goal game going into the third.
Barrie wouldn't allow them to get to comfortable as it was the newest Colt scoring his first career OHL goal as Jacob Tortora celebrated their 6th goal of the game. It was a rebound in front that he was able to pounce on and backhand home for the 6-4 lead. Willms and Pekar assisted on the play.
Not long after, Barrie looked to have taken the three goal lead, but it was deemed offside, which wiped away Justin Murray's 6th goal of the season.
The Otters would comeback and make it a one goal lead after the no-goal to make it 6-5 in the latter half of the 3rd period.
Lucas Chiodo would add the insurance marker with thirty-seven seconds to go to seal the 7-5 victory for the Colts.
Barrie is right back at it tomorrow night as they head to Niagara to take on the new look IceDogs who just added Jason Robertson and Jacob Pacquette from the Kingston Frontenacs.
