Huntsville Havoc News Release


The Huntsville Havoc took a pair of games from the top two teams in the league, beating the Knoxville Ice Bears 2-1 on the road and beating the Fayetteville Fire Antz 4-1 at home.

Thursday, December 1 - Huntsville 2, Knoxville 1
KNOXVILLE, TN - The Huntsville Havoc scored two goals in the third period fighting back to beat the Knoxville Ice Bears 2-1 Thursday night. James Patterson scored with game winner off the faceoff with :40 left in the game after Steve Hynes had tied the game at 1-1 with seven minutes left in the game. Mike Craigen had given the Ice Bears the 1-0 with just 1:29 into the second period. Matt Carmichael and Ryan Person were both strong in goal for their respective teams. Carmichael stopped 27 shots in the win, Person 29 in the loss. Huntsville was 0-of-7 on the power play while Knoxville was 0-of-3.

Friday December 2 - Fayetteville 1, Huntsville 4
HUNTSVILLE, AL - Mike Degurse scored :19 into the game as the Huntsville Havoc cruised to a 4-1 win over the Fayetteville Fire Antz Friday night. Steve Hynes and Craig Bushey scored :20 apart in the second period giving Huntsville a 3-0 lead with 9:44 left in the second period. Fayettevile finally got on the board with :43 left in the second period when Kory Baker found the back of the net. Luke Phillips added a power play goal in the third period to secure the win. Matt Carmichael was strong in goal for the second consecutive night. He finished with 31 saves. He held the top two scoring teams in the league to two goals after getting a 2-1 win over Knoxville last night. Jomar Cruz played 37 minutes in the loss. He gave up three goals and was replaced by Glenn Ridler who allowed one.
