Thursday, March 2 - Huntsville 7, Pee Dee 6

FLORENCE, SC - Bill Monkman scored the game winning goal with under seven minutes remaining in the third period to snap a 6-6 tie and lift the Havoc to a 7-6 win over the Pee Dee Cyclones on Thursday night.

The Havoc trailed 5-4 through 40 minutes but managed to rally for their fifth win when trailing this season. Bill Monkman actually tied the game 5-5 early in the third period and then Mark Cole gave the Havoc the lead 6-5. The Cyclones wouldn't quit and got another power play goal to tie the contest at 6-6 forcing the fantastic finish.

Bill Monkman's goal was a carbon copy of his earlier goal in the period as both came on big slapshots that the Pee Dee goaltenders couldn't do anything with.

It was a tough start for the Havoc as they fell behind 1-0 before the game was 5 minutes old as the Cyclones came out firing and had to keep Jomar Cruz on his toes early.

However, the Havoc weathered the storm and tied the game up with two goals in just over two minutes. Jonathan Lounsbury fired his third goal of the season on a wrist shot on the power play from James Patterson and Jeff Dams. The Havoc took the lead when two of the top rookies in the SPHL hooked up with Steve Hynes passing the puck over to Craig Bushey who scored his 20th of the year to make it 2-1.It was a wild second period with six goals scored between the two teams and the Cyclones scoring four of them all on the power play against the daunted Huntsville Havoc penalty kill. The Cyclones held a 4-2 lead at one point before the Havoc would rally and tie on goals by Chris Peach and Jeff Dams 31 seconds apart to make it 4-4 but before the end of the second period the Cyclones would get another power play and get their fourth goal and power play goal of the period to take the lead.
