Harrisburg Heat News Release
The Harrisburg Heat trailed by four goals at halftime, but fought back in the third period to cut the lead in half. At the end it was a very spirited attempt, but the Heat could not complete the comeback attempt in the debut of interim head coach Gino Diflorio falling to the Waza Flo by a final of 9-4.
Detroit's Nik Djokic scored his first goal of the afternoon to open the final frame. Joe Tinnion added another midway through the stanza as the Waza Flo grabbed an 8-4 advantage they would not relinquish.
The Heat used the third quarter to cut Detroit's lead to to just 2. Patrick Thompson and Tyler Witmer both used great indivudual efforts to register markers. Thompson beat his man one on one at the top of the goal box to sneak it past the keeper and Witmer working near the top of the circle roofed a blast just out of the reach of Detroit's Nate Steinwascher.
Clovis Malenkani opened the second period scoring to make it 5-1 Detroit. Harrisburg's Tyler Witmer cut the lead to 3 off a re-start to make it 5-2. Chris Finch increased Detroit's lead with seven seconds remaining in the first half. Finch scored after a Detroit timeout to make it 6-2 at halftime.
Danny Dragoi and Thiago Goncalves stretched the Detroit lead to 4-1 to end the first.
Costea Decu opened the scoring for Detroit in the first ten seconds into the game off a re-start to make it 1-0. Zane Polack made it 2-0 Waza Flow before Georges NouBossie cut the lead in half with the Heat's first tally.
Leonardo de Oliveira added an empty netter in the fourth.
