
Blast Fall to Comets 6-4

The Blast traveled to Missouri on Sunday evening for a matchup against the rival Comets. In the first meeting of the teams this season the Blast fell to the Comets 6-4 moving to 12-1 on the season.
Both teams came out focusing on defense to start the game. It took until the final minute in the quarter for both teams to find the back of the net. At the 14:17 mark Lucas Roque gave the Blast the lead off an assist from Kaoru Forbess, this was Roque's 11th goal of the season. Then with only .6 seconds left in the quarter the Comets would answer when Lucas Rodriguez would score a goal off a restart.
The Blast would regain the lead at the 1:35 mark in the second quarter when captain Pat Healey set up Adriano Dos Santos for a goal. The next two goals would come from the Comets as Kiel Williams tied the game at 2 and then the Comets leading scorer, Vahid Assadpour, gave the Comets the lead. Goalkeeper William Vanzela recorded 8 saves in the half and the Blast went into the locker room trailing 3-2.
The back and forth action continued in the second half. Lucas Roque recorded his second goal of the game at the 5:04 mark to tie the game at 3. The goal was assisted by Tony Donatelli who recorded his 17th assist of the season. At the 7:57 mark Leo Gibson gave the lead back to the Comets with a goal but the Blast would answer when Onua Obasi beat a defender and blasted the ball into the back of the net for his 6th goal of the season to tie the game at 4.
At the 5:37 mark Bryan Perez would give the Comets the lead and the Blast would not be able to mount a comeback. The Comets would add a late empty net goal and at the final buzzer the Blast fell to the Comets 6-4.
The Blast fall to 12-2 on the season. The Blast were led offensively by Lucas Roque who recorded 2 goals on the night. Defensively, Pat Healey recorded 3 blocks while goalkeeper, William Vanzela, recorded 11 saves. The Blast will be back in action Friday, February 12th when they travel to Detroit for a watch against the Waza Flo. Kickoff is at 7:05p.m. EST from the Dort Federal Arena.
