SYRACUSE, New York - The Silver Knights were back in action less than 24 hours after taking on the Chicago Mustangs on Saturday night. Using a big 2nd and 4th quarter, the Silver Knights were able to hold off the Wave who came back from 3 goals down to tie the game with just 4 minutes left. The Silver Knights stormed back with 4 goals in the final minutes to take down the Wave and come out with the 9-4 victory.

The first quarter got off to a slow start for each side as both the Wave and the Silver Knights were only able to score just once. The Wave got the scoring started just 2:03 into the match with a goal from Guilherme Veiga. But the Silver Knights were quick to respond just 2 minutes later with a strike from Joey Tavernese to tie the game at 1. The game would remain tied for the rest of the first quarter.

But the Silver Knights were able to take control in the second quarter scoring 4 goals and only giving up 1. Scoring their first goal for the Silver Knights was Zahir Hassan to get things rolling for the Knights. After a quick answer by the Wave the Silver Knights scored 3 unanswered goals from Tavernese, Nate Bourdeau, and Garret Losee. The Knights would take this momentum and 3 goal lead heading into the lockerroom at the half. In the first half goalie Andrew Coughlin came up with 5 saves on 7 shots to keep the Wave at bay.

The third quarter played out just like the first, with a slow pace from each side. The Wave were able to score the loan goal of the quarter mid way through the third. The Silver Knights would remain off the score sheet for the quarter but would take the 5-3 into the fourth and looking to steal a road win on the double header weekend.

The final quarter of the match would provide all the highlights one would want in a MASL match. 6 goals, a power play, great saves, and physical play all played a huge part in the fourth quarter in this game.

The Milwaukee Wave started off the quarter by 2 unanswered goals to tie the game at 5-5 with just 4 minutes left in the match and had all momentum going their way. But the Silver Knights were not ready to head back to Syracuse just yet, and came back strong for the final moments of the game. A Jake Schindler goal with 2 minutes remaining opened up the flood gates and turned the tide for the Silver Knights to get back ahead. Open net goals by Vitale, and two from Forbes sealed the deal in Milwaukee for the Silver Knights. The win came on the second half of a back to back road weekend for the Knights.

The Silver Knights were lead on the afternoon by Kenardo Forbes whose 2 goals and 3 assists lead all scorers on the afternoon. The Knights will return to action on Thursday, February 18th for a home showdown against the Harrisburg Heat. For ticket information call 315-303-7261 or visit syracusesilverknights.com.
