Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - The Wawa Sunshine Cup Series opens tonight for a second season as the Florida Everblades will compete against their in-state rivals the Orlando Solar Bears at the Amway Center beginning at 7:00 p.m.
The Wawa Sunshine Cup is awarded to the team with the most standings points earned in the head-to-head meetings between the two teams during the 2016-17 regular season. In the event of a tie in points, the first tie-breaker will be the highest number of goals scored, followed by fewest number of goals allowed.
The Everblades captured the Wawa Sunshine Cup in its inaugural season, defeating the Solar Bears by a tally of 21 points to nine points. Florida posted a 10-3-1-0 record against Orlando in 2015-16.
"We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Wawa for a second season, and to have been fortunate to be the first recipients of the Wawa Sunshine Cup," said Everblades Vice President of Sales & Marketing Chris Palin. "This is an excellent promotion for all parties involved, and the Sunshine Cup provides excitement to both fan bases of this in-state rivalry."

About Wawa, Inc.
Wawa, Inc., a privately held company, began in 1803 as an iron foundry in New Jersey. Toward the end of the 19th Century, owner George Wood took an interest in dairy farming and the family began a small processing plant in Wawa, Pa, in 1902. The milk business was a huge success, due to its quality, cleanliness and "certified" process. As home delivery of milk declined in the early 1960's, Grahame Wood, George's grandson, opened the first Wawa Food Market in 1964 as an outlet for dairy products. Today, Wawa is your all day, every day stop for fresh, built-to order foods, beverages, coffee, fuel services, and surcharge-free ATM's. All of Wawa's stores offer a large fresh food service selection, including Wawa brands such as built-to-order hoagies, freshly-brewed coffee, hot breakfast sandwiches, built-to-order Specialty Beverages, and an assortment of soups, sides and snacks. A chain of more than 650 convenience retail stores (over 400 offering gasoline), Wawa stores are located in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia and as of July of 2012, Central Florida. The winner of the 2013 Beautification Award for District 1 in Orlando, Wawa is proud to be recognized for its continued commitment to enhancing the Orlando community environment through litter prevention, waste reduction and recycling, and beautification.
