Watertown Splits Series with Port Huron

After giving up a 2-0 lead in last night's loss to the Port Huron Prowlers, Head Coach Trevor Karasiewicz and the Watertown Wolvees looked for redemption in the final game of the weekend series at the Watertown Municipal Arena.
Veteran Anton Lennartsson got the Wolves on the board first with a pass from rookie Bryan Parsons via Gavin Yates. Matyas Kasek retaliated for the Prowlers three minutes later on assists from Mike Baker and Nathan Robson.
Dalton Jay took the lead for Port Huron just under five minutes into the second period. Port Huron's tripping penalty allowed Anton Lennartsson to get a power play goal with assists from Christian Whitcomb and Brandon Wahlin and tie the game. Dalton Jay quickly responded in twenty seconds to take the lead back. Shea Carey's goaltender interference gave the Wolves another power play. Rookie George Holt scored on the power play and was assisted by Gavin Yates and Justin Portillo making it a 3-all game. Yates went solo on Watertown's fourth goal to take the lead back. The Wolves held the 4-3 lead for the remainder of the second period.
Troy Polino was given a delay of game penalty seventeen minutes into the third period. Port Huron seized the opportunity and tied the game up on a goal from Mike Baker. The 4-4 deadlock continued for the remainder of the period sending the game into over-time.
After a scoreless overtime the game went to a shootout. Dalton Jay scored on his first shot and was the only goal for the Prowlers. After unsuccessful shots from Troy Polino, Tyler Gjurich, Gavin Yates, and Brandon Wahlin, Yates tied it back up in the final shot of the shootout to send the game into sudden death. After no goals from Dalton Jay, Tyler Gjurich, or Alex Johnson, Gavin Yates sank his goal giving the Wolves the win.
Yates game-winning shot earned him the first star of the game. Anton Lennartsson was credited the second star for his two goals. The third star of the game went to Watertown's newest net-minder Cody Porter.
The Watertown Wolves will spend the next two weekends on the road to face the Mentor Ice Breakers and the Danville Dashers. They will return to the Watertown Municipal Arena on Wednesday, Novermber 21st to host the Elmira Enforcers with the puck dropping at 6:30pm.
