Washington Takes Series Behind Three-Run Seventh

WASHINGTON, Pa. - In an effort to rectify last night's loss and claim a series victory over the Windy City Thunderbolts, the Washington Wild Things found success late in Thursday's rubber game with their bullpen and offense.

Washington (21-27) started off strong with a home run to left field by Wagner Lagrange in the first, which earned the outfielder his 34th RBI on the season.

The ThunderBolts (21-27) quickly struck back with Peyton Isaacson hitting a double, then to third during a groundout by Micah Yonamine and scoring on a single by Paul Coumoulos. Coumoulos later scored on an RBI double in the second by Dan Robinson, making it 2-1 Windy City.

In the bottom of the second, Andrew Czech ignited the Wild Things' offense with a double to left field. That fire kept burning as Tristan Peterson singled allowing Czech to advance to third base. Tommy Caufield stepped up for Washington and delivered a sacrifice fly, sending Czech across home and tying the game.

After two scoreless innings, the Bolts were the first to claim another run. Windy City took the lead once again with a single to right field by Jonathan Waite, earning himself an RBI as Isaacson struck home in the sixth.

In a whirlwind of a seventh inning, Washington was able to regain the lead. Tommy Caufield and Abraham Sequera were walked after a combined 20 pitches, loading first and second. Anthony Brocato scored Caufield with a RBI double to left field, and Washington secured the lead with a two-run sacrifice fly from Scotty Dubrule.

Ultimately, the seventh inning, a strong defensive effort, and a sturdy bullpen would be the winning factors in tonight's game, allowing Washington a win with the score of 5-3.

A series victory for the Wild Things will be paramount going into their next three-game home stretch, beginning tomorrow night against the Sussex County Miners. First pitch of Friday's game is slated for 7:05 p.m.
