
Washington Takes Second Straight from Beach Bums

WASHINGTON, PA - After a high-scoring first inning, the pitchers settled down and the Washington Wild Things(14-9) defeated the Traverse City Beach Bums(9-13), by a final score of 6-4.
Arby Fields led off the game for the Beach Bums with a walk then two batters later, Will Kengor cranked a two run bomb down the right field line for his third homer of the season, giving Traverse City a 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the inning, Kyle Pollock hit an RBI double, then Hector Roa hit a two-run single, giving Washington a one run lead.
Washington added single runs in the fourth and fifth on RBI singles by Brett Marr and Roa, making it a 5-2 game. In the top of the sixth, Fields led off with a single to centerfield. Then, three batters later, Luke Lowery drove him home with a double. In the bottom of the inning, James Harris hit an RBI triple for Washington, regaining their three run advantag. Isaac Benard hit a double to start of the seventh inning then scored when Orlando Rivera singled to right. In the ninth, the Beach Bums had the tying run at bat but could not comeback.
Frank Trimarco picked up the win for Washington, improving to 3-0, going into the seventh inning, giving up four runs on five hits. John Havird suffered the loss, giving up six runs on 11 hits as he fell to 1-2. Zach Strecker walked one in the ninth but picked up his seventh save of the season.
On Thursday, the Beach Bums and Washington Wild Things conclude this week's three game series. Washington goes with Danny Garmendia while the Beach Bums counter with Jordan Desguin, in a battle of righties.
