
Washington Sweeps Windy City with 6-5 Victory in Extra Innings

Washington, Pa - It took 10 innings for Washington to pull off a victory and sweep of the Windy City Thunderbolts Thursday night at CONSOL Energy Park. Washington defeated Windy City 6-5.
Washington got on the scoreboard in the first inning when Sam Mende hit a solo home run and Scott Kalamar scored.
Windy City answered, tying the game with two runs in the third inning. The Thunderbolts took the lead in the fourth inning when Max White tripled and drove in three runs.
Washington chipped away in the fourth and fifth innings and knotted the score at five when Jimmy Yezzo tripled and drove in the tying runs. The score remained 5-5 until the bottom of the tenth when Austin Wobrock was walked in for the score.
Tim Geil earned the victory for Washington, allowing no hits or runs and striking out four batters in two innings of work.
Washington hosts the Gateway Grizzlies for a three game set which will get underway Friday when first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Air time on WJPA 95.3 FM and www.msasports.net is 6:55 p.m. Tickets are available at the Box Office.
