Warthogs drop one in the rain, 6-3, on Sunday

Winston-Salem, NC – The Winston-Salem Warthogs (24-18) lost a rain shortened game, 6-3 against Kinston on Sunday. The game was halted after the fifth inning. The Warthogs won a rain shortened game in the fifth on Saturday. Kinston RHP Travis Foley evened his record to 3-3. Foley gave up three runs on six hits in five innings. Warthogs' RHP Kris McWhirter fell to 0-3 in the loss. McWhirter gave up five runs on four hits in three innings.

The Indians got on the board in the first on a three-run homerun by Luke Scott. The Warthogs got on the board in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Jeremy Reed.

Kinston increased its lead to 5-1 with a two-out two-RBI double by Brian Wright. The Warthogs scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI double by Daylan Holt and an RBI single by Wally Rosa. The K-Tribe scored its last run on an RBI single by Bill Peavey in the top of the fifth.

The Warthogs will begin a six game road trip on Tuesday. The Warthogs will play three games at Kinston and three at Kinston. All the play by play will be heard on 600/1200 WSJS.
