
Warthogs double up Avalanche on Friday

Winston-Salem, NC â The Winston-Salem Warthogs (18-14) had a power surge in their 10-5 win over Salem in front of 3,386 fans at Ernie Shore Field on Friday night. Wyatt Allen evened his record to 1-1. Allen gave up three earned runs on four hits in 5 2/3. Ryan Meaux gave up two hits and no runs in two innings for his third save. Salem's Brian Rodaway gave up seven runs in 4 1/3 and dropped to 0-4.
The Warthogs never trailed in the game. There were five homeruns hits amongst the two teams. In the past two game the two teams have combined for ten homeruns. Brian Becker hit two homeruns for the Warthogs. Jeremy Reed and Tommy Nicholson also homered for Winston-Salem. Jon Helquist homered for Salem. Reed ended the night with three RBIs including a two run single in the bottom of the eighth innings. Ruddy Yan had three hits and scored two runs for the Warthogs.
Ryan Meaux increased his scoreless streak to 26 innings tonight.
The third game of the series will be Saturday night at 7:15pm at Ernie Shore Field. RHP Scott Patten (1-1, 5.40) will make his first start for the Warthogs. The Avalanche will counter with RHP Manny Santillan (0-2, 4.15). All the play by play will be heard on 600/1200am WSJS and on the internet at www.warthogs.com.
