Warriors Unveil Special Room in Peds Ward

August 25, 2009 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Moose Jaw Warriors News Release

The Moose Jaw Warriors in partnership with McDonalds officially opened the Warriors/McDonalds Room in the Pediatrics Ward of the Moose Jaw Union Hospital today. Warriors' players, staff and board members were on hand for the grand opening.

The Warriors Room was made possible by the "One Step at a Time" promotion put on by McDonalds last season. For every Big Mac sold on a Warriors home game, McDonalds donated one dollar to help renovate the room. With construction beginning in June, the room underwent complete renovations for the past 3 months.

New flooring was installed to resemble a hockey arena. Rink boards surround the room with brightly colored walls adding to the hockey rink theme. A giant wall mural was created containing a cheering crowd that doubles as an eye-spy game. The Warriors logo has been placed prominently on the windows. A coat rack and framed pictures, both made of hockey sticks, constructed and donated by Jason Moran complete the room.

At the Grand Opening, another announcement was made on behalf of the Warriors Alumni Association. Warriors Alumni Kent Hayes and Mike Keane donated $2,500 to the Moose Jaw Union Hospital Pediatrics Ward. Former Warrior Derek Kletzel was on hand to make the presentation. The donation will allow the Hospital Foundation to take one more step to improve the Pediatrics Ward.

A big thank you goes to McDonalds Owner/Operator Doug Douley, Moose Jaw Union Hospital Maintenance Staff and Kelly McEllree of the Moose Jaw Hospital Foundation for making the room a reality.

Please see the Warriors Website for photos of the Warriors/McDonalds Room.
