Dominik Uher, the Chiefs lone selection in the June CHL Import Draft, has arrived in Spokane and will participate in this weekend's camp. Spokane took Uher with the 47th overall selection. Uher is a 6'0", 178 pound forward from the Czech Republic.
In 38 games this past year with HC Trinec in the Czech Republic, Uher scored 19 goals and 46 points and added another five goals and 11 points in nine playoff games. Uher has played 88 games for HC Trinec over the past three years, plus 17 more post-season games. He will be eligible for the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He will turn 17 on December 31st.
Uher will join Stefan Ulmer, who also arrived back in Spokane this week, as the two European born players on the Chiefs roster. Ulmer, an Austrian, will be back for his third season as a Chief. Ulmer appeared in 63 games last season and scored eight goals, 40 points and was a +14. This past December Ulmer was named the Best Defeseman at the 2009 IIHF Group B World Junior Hockey Championship after leading Austria to the gold medal. As a rookie, Ulmer appeared in 37 games and finished the season +13. He also played in all 21 WHL playoff games, registering eight assists and a +15, and all four Memorial Cup Championship games.
The Chiefs Fall Camp will begin with scrimmages on Thursday, August 27th at 10:30, 1:00 and 3:30. Scrimmages will take place at the exact same times on Friday and Saturday with camp concluding on Sunday, August 30th at 1:00 with the Red-White Scrimmage.
All ice sessions in the Spokane Arena will be free and open to the public.
