Saskatoon Blades News Release
Saskatoon Blades left winger Derek Hulak has earned an invitation to rookie camp for the Edmonton Oilers.
Hulak, a native of Saskatoon, is the 11th player from the past season's edition of the Blades to have garnered an invite from a National Hockey League team.
The Blades captain, Hulak was the team's leading scorer during the 2008-09 season with 30 goals and 46 assists for 76 points in 72 games played while adding 50 penalty minutes. In 7 playoff games, the former Saskatoon Contact had 3 goals and 4 assists for 7 points to go along with 4 penalty minutes.
The Blades acquired Hulak from the Regina Pats along with a 4th round Bantam Draft pick in 2008 in exchange for forward Michael MacAngus, a 3rd round Bantam Draft pick in 2008, and a 5th round Bantam Draft pick in 2008 on January 10th, 2007.
Hulak will be joined at the Oilers camp by his linemates during the 2008-09 season center Milan Kytnar, who recently signed with the Oilers after being a 5th round draft pick of the Oilers in 2007, and right winger Burke Gallimore, who earned an invite last week.
The trio will leave for Edmonton on September 6th.
