Warriors Release 2018 Training Camp Itinerary and Roster

Moose Jaw Warriors News Release


The Moose Jaw Warriors will open their 2018 Training Camp Wednesday, August 22nd at Mosaic Place. Eighty three players from across Western Canada, the United States, and Belarus will be in town starting with registration at 6pm.

Thursday, August 23rd players will go through fitness testing at YARA Centre in the morning. That afternoon Rookie Camp will open with practices and games beginning at 2pm at Mosaic Place. Rookie Camp will conclude Friday, August 24th. Following the final Rookie Game, players will then move on to Main Camp or be re-assigned to their club teams.

Main Camp begins Saturday, August 25th with scrimmages at 10am and 4pm, Sunday, August 26th there will be a scrimmage at 10am, and then at 4pm is the annual Black-White Intersquad Game. All practices and scrimmages are open to the public. The 2018 Training Camp schedule and roster is enclosed.

Breaking Down Camp

Of the 83 players attending camp, there are 11 goalies, 24 defenseman, and 48 forwards

50 players will take part in rookie camp: 7 goalies, 13 defenseman, and 30 forwards

12 players are returning to the Warriors from 2017 - 2018, two players have WHL experience with another club (Bowman/Salmond), and another five players were called up by the Warriors and played in at least one regular season game (Gardiner, Hunt, Kwiatkowski, Sanders, Tracey)

There are 11 signed prospects including one from the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft

Three players have been drafted by an NHL team (Brook, Woo, Almeida)

27 players attending camp were selected by the Warriors in the WHL Bantam Draft, two were selected in the CHL Import Draft, 12 were listed by the organization, five were acquired through trade, and 37 are camp invites

There are three 1998 born players, four 1999 born players, eleven 2000 born players, twelve 2001 born players, twenty three born in 2002, and thirty players were born in 2003.

Admission to the Warriors annual Black-White Intersquad Game will be by donation with the proceeds going to the Canadian Mental Health Association in memory of Ethan Williams.
