
Warriors Rally Back from 19-Point Deficit to Rout Reno

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors defeated the Reno Bighorns 121-119 on Saturday night to improve to 32-14 on the season.
Santa Cruz was led by Dominique Sutton, who recorded a double-double, notching 32 points and 13 rebounds. Darington Hobson contributed with 26 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists.
Reno received a solid performance from Ra'shad James who recorded 43 points on a16 of 29 shooting effort. Dar Tucker had a double-double, with 24 points and 11 rebounds.
The first quarter saw a tight battle for control of the game, with both teams staying within an arm's length of each other throughout the entire opening frame. Reno would open their slight lead to larger margin of 17 points, heading into the break with a double-digit advantage over Santa Cruz.
The Warriors would emerge from halftime to gradually regain their footing in the game. A Dominique Sutton lay-up would cut Reno's lead to single-digits with five minutes to go in the third period. The remainder of the third was a tight battle, as Santa Cruz entered the final frame at a six-point deficit.
Hobson would make the jumpshot that tied the score with 8 minutes left to play in the game. His next bucket would give the Warriors a lead they would never relinquish. Though Reno was able to come within one point in the final minute of the game, Santa Cruz finished on top in the final seconds.
The Santa Cruz Warriors will host the Bakersfield Jam Friday night at 7:00 p.m. PST at Kaiser Permanente Arena.
