MCALLEN, TEXAS, March 22, 2015 - Casey Prather (30) and Jerel McNeal (27) combined for 57 points in a 124-113 Bakersfield Jam (33-12) road victory over the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (24-21).
Bakersfield stormed out to a 40-20 lead after one period, led by McNeal (13) and Prather's (12) double-digit quarter performance. Momentum swung in favor of Rio Grande Valley in the second frame, as they outscored the Jam 42-25 and went into the break down single-digits (65-62).
The Jam raced out to a 19-2 run to start the second half, building their lead back to double-digits (84-64) with 6:31 remaining in the third quarter. Rio Grande Valley fought back in the fourth to cut their deficit to five points (98-93) at the 9:00 mark, but Bakersfield managed to withstand their run and executed well down the stretch to close out the game.
Mac Koshwal finished with 18 points, nine rebounds and four steals, while Renaldo Major and Xavier Munford scored 16 points apiece. Joe Jackson added 14 points, seven assists and six rebounds.
The Vipers were paced by Tony Bishop (21 points, 11 rebounds) and Jaron Johnson (19 points, 11 rebounds). Geron Johnson contributed 18 points off the bench.
The Bakersfield Jam will host the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Tuesday, March 24 at 7:00 p.m. PT.
