
Warriors Drop Second Game to Reno

RENO, Nev. - The Santa Cruz Warriors dropped the second game of a back-to-back in Reno, falling 110-104 to the Bighorns Tuesday night.
Santa Cruz's Cameron Jones led all scorers with 29 points and a game-high five steals. Dominic McGuire logged a double-double with a season-high 22 points and 10 boards, while Seth Curry scored 20. Golden State Warriors assignee Ognjen Kuzmic had a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 18 boards, while Nemanja Nedovic, also on assignment from Golden State, scored seven points and dished out seven assists.
Reno was paced by Sundiata Gaines, who scored 27 points and had seven assists. DeQuan Jones scored 21, and Mo Charlo recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards. Bryan Davis scored 15 points off the bench, while Trent Lockett added 14.
There were 18 lead changes in the contest. The Bighorns led by as much as seven points early in the second quarter, but Santa Cruz went on an 11-2 run later in the period to take a nine point lead. Reno raced back and took the 52-51 lead at halftime, and it remained close until Santa Cruz went on a 12-2 run to own a double-digit advantage with 4:05 left in the third. Reno cut the deficit to four to enter the final frame, and after K.C. Rivers hit a three to start the fourth, it remained a one-possession game until DeQuan Jones hit a step-back three with 35.1 seconds left to put Reno ahead 103-99. The Warriors came within three points, but the Bighorns responded and held on for the six point victory.
Reno held the edge on field goal shooting (45.1%-44.0%), rebounds (43-40) and assists (25-17). Santa Cruz scored more points in the paint (48-40) and registered more blocks (6-5). The Bighorns committed fewer turnovers (16-18) and each team had nine steals.
