BOISE, Idaho - The Santa Cruz Warriors, powered by an all-time high 41-third quarter points, cruised to victory against Idaho, defeating the Stampede 114-96 Friday night.
Santa Cruz was led by Cameron Jones, who scored 21 points. Seth Curry scored 20 points and dished out seven assists, while Dominic McGuire recorded a double-double with 15 points and 15 boards. Daniel Nwaelele also scored 20 points, and Ognjen Kuzmic, currently on assignment from the Golden State Warriors, had a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 20 rebounds - Kuzmic's third game this season with at least 20 boards.
Idaho was paced by Kevin Murphy, who scored a game-high 26 points. Dee Bost was one rebound shy of a triple-double, logging 22 points, a game-high 12 assists and nine rebounds, while Darnell Lazare scored 14. In his first game in an Idaho uniform, Scott Machado scored 10 points.
Idaho led by as much as seven points midway through the first quarter, but Santa Cruz kept it close through the second. The Stampede went on a 5-0 run to end the first half with a five point advantage, but Santa Cruz took the lead on an 11-0 run to start the third quarter and never looked back. The Warriors poured in an all-time high 41 points in the third period, ultimately outscoring Idaho by 19. Santa Cruz maintained its double-digit lead for the remainder of the game, owning as much as a 24-point advantage late in the fourth.
Santa Cruz shot 46.1% from the floor compared to Idaho's 42.2% field goal shooting. The Warriors owned the glass (54-39) and held the advantage on assists (26-21), steals (13-7) and points in the paint (56-42). Santa Cruz committed fewer turnovers (13-17).
