DAYTON, Ohio – When the Dayton Warbirds take the field at Nutter Arena Saturday night, the event will mark a new era of indoor professional football for the City of Dayton and the community.

Under new management and ownership, the team will have the opportunity to spread its wings under the banner of the National Indoor Football League.

The Warbirds, who have been dormant since being orphaned by another indoor league, will play Saturday in their inaugural game. Kickoff is at 7:35 p.m.

The administration group, Centurion Sports Management, will direct its expertise in marketing, public relations and operations. Centurion follows the NIFL's program of "year round" programs for youth and charities.

Through the charitable contributions of "Sports for Education Program," the NIFL has given more than $18 million a year to the respective communities. Each team projects it will, through its sponsors, return more than $350,000 to the public.

"Sports for Education" is a unique program that gives back, dollar for dollar, to various charities. By playing "Dasher board Bingo," people not only participate in a contest, but make a donation to the population.

"I would have to say it is one of the finest fund raising programs I have experienced," said Anthony J. Pewonski, president of CSM. "We will be in the community year round. We are proud of the efforts previously made and we will continue to be prominent in the area."

Dayton will compete in the Atlantic Division of the Atlantic Conference along with the New Jersey Xtreme, who plays in East Rutherford, NJ; the River City Rage in St. Charles, Mo.; and the Cincinnati Marshals.
