Corpus Christi Hammerheads News Release

Corpus Christi, TX- Now in the midst of week three, The Corpus Christi Hammerheads are shaking up the Shark Tank and making some changes to the depth chart. After last weeks' heartbreaking loss at Three Rivers Coliseum in Pasco, Washington to the Tri-Cities Fever, the Hammerheads were forced to reevaluate their kicker situation. Oscar Moreno was faced with his first real test under pressure as a professional kicker on Saturday against Tri-Cities, and unfortunately was not able to pull through. So, the Hammerheads are now looking to professional soccer player Chris Greer as the new boot man to bring stability to the important position of kicker as games often come down to the wire as proven on Saturday in Pasco. Greer is a local boy who attended Flour Bluff High School. Chris also went on to play soccer at DePaul University and has been playing professional soccer abroad for the last few years. He has relied on his foot for a living, so now he has to put that foot to good use in a different capacity.

Another recent addition to the Hammerheads is Estus Hood. Estus looks to bring size, speed, and strength to the defensive front. A 6' 3" 250 lb. former Southern Illinois standout that played tight end in college, Hood is going to play Line Backer and Defensive Line this year.

Also back for more with the Hammers is Running Back/Line Backer Adrian Barnes. Adrian, a product of football juggernaut Converse-Judson and Texas A&M-Commerce, stared offensively and defensively last year for the Hammerheads. Barnes returns to the Hammerheads after a short stint in the AF2 with the South Georgia Wildcats. There isn't much room for running in the AF2 game, so Barnes didn't see it as a good fit for him and is returning home to the Shark Tank. Adrian looks to add consistency to a defense that is still looking for its identity and a back field that's a little banged up.

Don't miss your chance to see the new additions to the Hammerheads make their first appearance in the Shark Tank this Sunday April 3, 2005 at 5:05 PM against the San Angelo Stampede.
