Walsh Hits Two Homers in Bees Loss

August 18, 2018 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Salt Lake Bees News Release

The Reno Aces scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth to rally for an 8-7 win over the Salt Lake Bees on Friday night.

Miguel Almonte (1-1) came on to protect a two run lead in the ninth, but surrendered a leadoff single by Ildemaro Vargas. One out later, Juniel Querecuto walked and Socrates Brito followed with an RBI double to cut the Salt Lake lead to 7-6. A wild pitch by Almonte brought home Querecuto with the tying run and moved Brito to third. Kevin Cron hit a bouncer to Jose Rojas at third base, but Brito jarred the ball loose from the glove of catcher Jose Briceno to score the winning run.

The Bees had jumped out to a 6-0 lead with two runs in the first inning on a double by Jose Miguel Fernandez and then four more runs in the second on an RBI double by Bo Way, a sacrifice fly by Luis Rengifo and a two run homer by Jared Walsh. Reno would score five in the bottom of the second and neither team scored again until Walsh hit his second home run of the game in the seventh to give Salt Lake a two run lead. Walsh would lead the Bees with three hits and three runs batted in. Walsh now has 15 hits and 17 RBI in his last nine games. Salt Lake has now lost four consecutive games and have fallen six and one half games behind first place El Paso.
