Salt Lake Bees News Release

SALT LAKE CITY - Jared Walsh collected four hits, three RBIs and the save for the Bees in a 9-7 win over Tacoma on Sunday night.

Walsh terrorized the Rainiers all series, collecting 12 RBIs in the four-game series and became the first Salt Lake position player to earn a save in the 25-year history of the franchise. Jabari Blash joined Walsh in producing most of the offense, driving in four runs, including a three-run homer, his 26th of the season. Blash is now tied for the PCL lead in home runs with Tyler O'Neil of Memphis.

Jose Suarez got the start for the Bees allowing a single run over four and one-third innings. Akeel Morris was credited with the win with one and two-thirds shuout innings. Tacoma was able to rally late as they trailed 8-1 going to the eighth inning but scored six to make it a one run game. Salt Lake added a run in the bottom half on a Walsh double for insurance before Tyler Stevens and Walsh were able to finish the game with a scoreless ninth.

With the win the Bees took the series against Tacoma 3-1 and the season series 12-4. Salt Lake welcomes in first-place El Paso for a three-game series beginning at 7:05 p.m. on Monday night. The Bees trail the Chihuahuas by 3.5 games for the Pacific Southern Division lead.
